Roy Yamaguchi’s Maker’s Mark Private Select Launch Party

Roy’s HAWAII KAI private dining room, second level

Tuesday, February 18 at 6-8 p.m.
Roy's Hawaii Kai (map)

Our Roy’s Hawaii Maker’s Mark Private Select blend consists of 40% Seared French Cuvee staves and 20% each of Maker’s 46, Roasted French Mocha, and Toasted French Spice. This combination brings baking spices with hints of vanilla and toasted caramel on the nose. On the palette, the 40% French Cuvee really comes through by adding significant body to the whisky. Buttery, toasted, and notably spiced. Full bodied with a long finish. Although, this whisky comes in at 110 proof, it is relatively approachable. The cocktail we suggest to showcase this whisky is our house Old Fashioned.

$60 per person

Tasting Notes

Seared French Cuvee – Cuvee creates rich buttery spicy notes and heavy mouthfeel. The grooves on this stave have 22% more surface area, which helps create rich notes of butter, spiced stone fruits & bitter orange. In the barrel, this stave brings texture and weight to the whisky.

Maker’s 46 – The most balanced stave for flavor. Infrared oven seared, this is dark baking spices like clove, nutmeg & cinnamon. Also, more vanilla, caramel with notes of fig, and dark dried fruits. This stave is a chameleon in the barrel and helps to create great whiskies.

Roasted French Mocha – Dark and rich this stave is astringent and can be bitter when too many are used. Hints of chocolate, coffee and tobacco. This stave helps create a long rich finish.

Toasted French Spice – Bright spice of Thai chili and pink and green peppercorns. Helps create a spicy long finish. An explosion of flavor it often will add notes of bright fruit also.
